WordPress 2.7 Set For November 10th

October 23, 2008

blogs, Wordpress

Another major WordPress update is on the way! This looks really good, although I am personally tired of updating WordPress every month or so, across five blogs. I hope this is the last update for a while. I’m really gratified that the WordPress geeks are so attuned to changes and improvements, but wow… I’ve been feeling somewhat overwhelmed of late.

Anyway, you can read about all the great new features at the WordPress blog here and here. One goal they have been working toward is making it easier and faster to get to the sub-navigation menus. Hurray for that! Here’s a quick breakdown of some improvements with 2.7:

  • Easier Admin navigation
  • Contextual Access Tabs (tabs, at last!)
  • A stats graph (the new Akismet plugin has a stats graph on spam, as well)
  • QuickPress (a mini WordPress posting functionality on the Dashboard page, something users have been asking for)
  • and more!

I look forward to this update, and I hope this is the last one for a while!

I can’t wait for the new 2.7 release, it’s apparently got sticky post options which will save me a lot of troubles over on my site where I have to worry about posting featured articles without WP thinking they’re meant to be in the Feature category.
