What spells relief? E X T E R N A L H A R D D R I V E!
This baby was on sale at Circuit City and I got one. (Thank God for business tax deductions!). My computer was acting a litttle funny, and I was in great fear that I’d lose another computer hard drive. I have some stuff backed up on a USB flash drive, but the drive is small and can’t hold my 3GB’s worth of photos, not to mention all my business financial files, saved blog information, and more. My data was a total mish-mash and mess, and I was never quite sure if I’d saved such-and-such on this-or-that. It was piling up and I was starting to get a little nervous.
Portable, external hard drives are dreams come true for making data backups. They are usually very small– my new Toshiba is the size of an index card– and all you do is plug it in your machine. Most external hard drives are about 250GB (that’s a LOT of space) although some are as big as 500GB; and I even saw 1 terabyte available. I think EHDs are still a little pricey, but just think– you can double or triple your computer disk space for a mere $70-100. All you do is plug it in your USB post and your computer sees it as another drive. You can use it to store everything on it, leaving your computer data-free if you want. I am considering wiping my computer of all my passwords and sensitive data and keeping all that stuff only on my EHD. And when I need the data for my other computer, I just take the EHD and plug it into that.
So I am loving my EHD! And I can finally sleep at night, knowing that my data is OK if my computer crashes or, God forbid, my computer is ever stolen or damaged.
