By now, most if us know what “Black Friday” is. It’s the day after Thanksgiving, the biggest shopping day of the year. Merchants and retailers called it Black Friday long before the term ever caught on and became a household name. It used to be difficult to know ahead of time what deals a retailer would be offering, but now there are special flyers and emails marketing it all.

Cyber Monday is a little less known, but it’s about as big as Black Friday. Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving, when retailers and merchants offer outstanding deals and shipping promotions online. For any online shopper (like me), I pay more attention to Cyber Monday than I do Black Friday. Black Friday is fiercely competitive– some shoppers wait in lines at 3am!! And this is on the freezing-cold temperatures. By the time 9am rolls around, just about everything is sold out.

Cyber Monday is competitive, too, but at least you don’t have to wait outside in long lines for 4-5 hours, and beta back crowds of rushing people. And merchants are finding the importance of getting word out about their Cyber Monday deals, too.

How about you? Are you checking out the deals for this coming weekend? It’s a great time to snap up items for incredible prices, that’s for sure. But remember that a bargain you can’t afford isn’t really a bargain! ;)
