When Blogging Becomes a Chore

I recently combed through my archives and was shocked to see I’ve been blogging here since 2007! That is an eternity in Internet years. I’ve been quite constant in my blogging — I do own a dozen blogs — but this past year I’ve slumped quite a bit. My life has changed somewhat (I work) and I don’t have as much free time, or even think time, like I used to. Some days I feel pretty dry.

A whole bunch of my blogging friends have quit already; their blogs are merely a shell, have been completely dismantled or they post so infrequently that it’s as if they’ve stopped. It’s sad to me to see a beloved blog go.

So I’ve been considering folding a few of these sites. It’s become very difficult to keep them updated, and since a certain blogging company has practically closed up shop (who shall remain nameless) I have less motivation to keep them running. The well is feeling mighty dry. Of course, everyone keeps telling me that a break or some kind of vacation will fix it. i don’t know. I think I would need a pretty long vacation to fix this! A year at one of those sweet Marietta GA hotels might do it, away from the crazy hustle and bustle….

Anyway, blogging has not quite become a chore, not yet. But as you can tell, I haven’t updated this blog in a while. They blogs were hacked a few months ago and it took a lot of work to get them back up. I’d sure hate to have all that blood, sweat and tears go to waste! I’m torn between keeping blogs I no longer maintain or trying to get my oomph back again. All I can do is wait.

How about you, have you felt your well running dry lately?

The well has not run dry for me as of yet.

Mike, that’s pretty good. You have a couple of blogs, so that’s quite an accomplishment.

I’m still not sure where I’ll go with my blogs. We’ll see. Thanks for reading!

I tend to go in phases..sometimes I am feeling bloggy and other times not so much. The past few months I have not had the excitement or motivation to keep up my blogs. That may change again soon. What I did do is remove the date feature from my blog posts so that when people go to my blog, they are not able to tell that the content is old. Well, at least I hope that I changed the date feature right. Last time I checked, it would just say the day of the week (Monday, Tuesday, etc) instead of a whole date containing a month, day and year.

I can understand your feeling of being at a crossroads, I have been at many crossroads in my life. As always the best advice is to go to God. Pray about it and talk it over with hubby. I am sure though that you have already done those two and my advice is meaningless right now lol.

Whatever path you set your feet upon, may God richly bless you with His strength and patience.
