What is Snapdragon Stadium?

Don’t be alarmed when you suddenly turn on your TV this week and suddenly see that the Qualcomm Stadium is gone and the San Diego Chargers suddenly appear in “Snapdragon Stadium.” It’s all part of a plan. :) You’ll be hearing a little more about Snapdragon with the televised Poinsettia Bowl and the classic Holiday Bowl this holiday week.

Enter Snapdragon. Snapdragon processors by Qualcomm are the digital brains inside mobile devices made. Snapdragon is a wireless chip processor, used in more than 300 kinds of smartphones, including HTC phones and the Samsung Galaxy tablet. I LOVE my smartphone. Few people really know what powers their tiny electronics, and Snapdragon wants to let us know it’s their amazing technology that makes it all possible. Who knows, maybe in a year or two we’ll be seeing “Snapdragon inside” stickers on our smartphone boxes.
 
Snapdragon has plans to expand, with hundreds of more projects under development currently. I think they’ve done a pretty good job with the smartphones, don’t you think? The processing power of those tiny machines is truly stunning, and it blows my mind that it’s only getting better. 
 
So, anyway, don’t be shocked to see Qualcomm Stadium with a new name. It’s only temporary. But Snapdragon is only just beginning.

There are so many great channels on my Direct TV but I really only watch one. Well, two if you count BRAVO but I only watch that one because they’ve got Top Chef! I love cooking shows more than your average person and so I spend a lot of time checking them out. I can’t believe how many there are on nowadays, either, but you know, my husband just enjoys the fact that I’m a much better cook than I used to be. I love that my daughter’s getting into cooking now, too, and it’s all because we watch food tv together on the weekends. She says that this year for THnaksgiving she wants to help me prepare the meal and that just warms my heart. To think…my little girl could be a chef someday! Anyway, I love her to death and I can’t wait until she’s old enough to hold a knife but for now she can help me put sprinkles on sugar cookies and things of that nature. Don’t want her burning herself or her hands!

Abuzz About Apple

I own several i-devices from Apple and have been absolutely thrilled with the latest software update, iOS 5. I’ve always been very wary of new updates, ever since 4.3 crashed on my iPhone and wiped out everything. EVERYTHING. It was pretty lousy. So I hadn’t updated from 4.3…. what was that, no updates for 3 weeks? :-p

Thus I am joining the ranks of the Apple bees, abuzz with news and my excitement about the new operating system. It comes on the wings of the death of Steve Jobs. Even though he had been sick for a long time, I think we were all shocked to turn on our i-devices and read the news that he had passed away. I remember him from way, way back. I still own the first personal MacIntosh computer from 1984. It was when I was just getting “into” computers and even considered some F5 training courses and all. I even have the old Mac mouse and keyboard and dot matrix and old floppies! It’s been in storage a long time, I’m not even sure it works anymore…

Anyway, I never went for the computer science degree nor any Cisco IronPort training courses, but I do still remain deeply interested in computer technology. Apple’s meteoric rise in the past ten years has really changed everything. Who knew the iPhone would revolutionize cell phones?!

I love the iPhone. I never thought I would want one, but after I hit that little button, I was hooked. It’s a terrific device. I am thrilled with iOS 5 and even more thrilled that my iPhone survived the transition! My favorite feature has got to be the new Notifications. The old way drove me nutty, I love the new one.
