Free Photo Editing Software

I found another very nice (and free!) photo editing software program: Photoscape. It’s very nice. It’s  a lot like Google’s Picasa, but without… Google. Which I prefer.

Here’s the self-described key features of Photoscape:

Viewer: View your folders photos, slideshow
Editor: resizing, brightness and color adjustment, white balance, backlight correction, frames, balloons, mosaic mode, adding text, drawing pictures, cropping, filters, red eye removal, blooming
Batch editor: Batch editing multiple photos
Page: Make one photo by merging multiple photos at the page frame
Combine: Make one photo by attaching multiple photos vertically or horizontally
Animated GIF: Make one animation photo with multiple photos
Print: Print portrait shot, carte de visite, passport photo
Splitter: Divide a photo into multiple parts
Screen Capture: Capture your screenshot and save it
Color Picker: Zoom in screen on images, search and pick the color
Rename: Change photo file names in batch mode
Raw Converter: Convert RAW to JPG

I just love the batch editing ability. I process hundreds of photos at a time sometimes– takes me HOURS. Resizing or sharpening all at once is such a time saver. I love Photoscape! And the price can’t be beat.

Create Your Own Animations

Hey look what I found, this looks like fun. I haven’t tried it yet, but I intend to send it along to my son (who loves stuff like this): Animasher. Here’s a tutorial I found for it.

This looks like a mix of Windows Movie maker and PaintShopPro. This looks like so much fun! It’s a great program for kids, I would think. You can let the creative juices run wild.

P.S. I think you have to sign up to use the service; be sure to use a “dummy” email address. It’s not likely this site will send spam, but it is wise to preserve your “real” email for personal use, IMHO.

Amazing Disney Artist Exhibition

Wow, I saw this in the news and it looks amazing! I have a few Disney-maniacs who visit my blog. Disney fine art is highly collectible, as well as beautiful! I’m sure you’ll love it!

Sanders Art Studio.com in Ogden, Utah is pleased to announce “The Magic of Disney Fine Art Exhibition.” This exciting new exhibit features Artists Trevor Carlton, Tricia Buchanan-Bensen, James Coleman, Mike Kupka, Harrison Ellenshaw and Peter Ellenshaw, among others.

The exhibit showcases over 30 of your favorite Disney Classic Film moments such as Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Kermit the Frog, Peter Pan, Mickey Mouse, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mary Poppins and much more.

In addition to the exhibit, over 300 limited-edition Disney Fine Art Giclee’s on canvases are available for purchase on a new website and virtual gallery at Sanders Art Studio.com.

I’m a great admirer of art, especially cartoon art and animation. This looks like a wonderful event to attend! It’s a LIVE event, at Utah’s Hogle Zoo. It’ll be held September 20, 2008, so there’s plenty of time to prepare and plan. Trevor Carlton is an accomplished artist– it would be thrilling to meet him in person. He’ll be at the event! Call managing director KC Sanders (a longtime Disney associate) at the Sanders Art Studio.com (801) 393-9419 for more information.

Wonderful Design Blog

Need some tips and advice on building a better blog? I’ve seen a lot of “advice” for blogging blogs… and I have to say they haven’t impressed me terribly. For one, their own blog is usually a mess! There are blinking ads everywhere, they have too many colors, crooked titles, etc. I can’t say I’ve ever been impressed. I was wowed with stumbling across Blog Design Blog. This is one helpful blog! And the design is gorgeous! Plus, the theme is available for free by the designer!

The articles are great. They deal with style, balance, color. It’s a lesson in art as well as blog design, lessons that could be carried on into other things. I am taking a hard look at my traveler blog, and Blog Design Blog is giving me some ideas.
