The Dearth of Good Themes

I think I’ve tried half a dozen themes on this blog in 12 months. Sorry, friends. I just cannot seem to find the *perfect* theme. Maybe I am too picky??

One of the reasons I switched from Blogger to WordPress was because of the wonderful themes in WordPress. Lots of high-quality themes abounded, many of them free. And over the past year or two of blogging, the WP themes have really upped the ante for tremendously beautiful and versatile themes. New themes have javascript, sliders, gorgeous visual effects and virtual toolbox effects. I love these kinds of themes. But many of the old themes, while still good, seem outdated now. And I a mo not finding many new themes that have the slick new features and are free. It seems that the era of beautiful free themes is over?

Anyway, I have purchased two themes from WooThemes. ~~I’m going to try the BusyBee theme here~~. [didn't look good, so I'm sticking with current theme until I can find a better one]. I dislike the bland gray, black, blue, or white themes, and that seems to be all we’re getting spoonfed these days.

Dear theme designers– Please make themes in colors, BRIGHT colors. I’m tired of the gray and black and blue themes. Thanks.

Tinkering with New Template

Things may look a little screwy here for a short time. I’ve discovered a new WordPress theme website, and am loving the templates! I’ll have more information on it, later, I hope. For now, I’m tinkering with the themes, so things may look a little strange around here for the time being.

WordPress Themes Site

I’m on a roll! You can never have too many themes for your blog, now can you? This one is WPRex – free wordpress themes. It touts itself as the “Best Free WordPress Themes For Free.” The themes are very nice. Many of them are the popular magazine style. I rather like the Elegant News and Magnalitus themes. I’ve been searching for a new theme for this blog (I have never found one that I liked *just right*), so I’ll be hunting again, when I have more time.

You can search by color, columns, theme topic, etc. No registration or login is required to download a theme, either (I hate that). Nice themes here, check them out.

More Good Blogger Templates

I’ve been scouring the World Wide Web for Blogger templates, recently. I’ve come across quite a few websites that have extremely classy templates! I’m happy to see that Blogger users have more choices available to them today. When I was with Blogger, 10 years ago now, the templates were horrid, and there were only a dozen or so available. Today, users have taken it on their own to provide some great templates– and most of them are free. Here are some I found:

Wowee Woo Themes

It’s spring. As is my *usual* custom, I’m in the process of organizing my blog themes, weeding out extraneous stuff, and going with a new look for many of them. I purchased a few themes from Woo Themes last year (Fresh News and Busy Bee), and have been very impressed with the quality. Moreover, when I have a problem or a question on customizing the theme, Woo Themes has a support forum. I’m just really impressed– the guys there seem to go the second mile. I don’t want my themes to be too redundant, but I haven’t found a better theme than Fresh News and I can’t stop using it!

Anyway, I love Woo Themes. The themes are very pricey but they are worth it. Kudos to the Woo Themes team.

Another Great WordPress Theme Site

Believe it or not (!!), I’ve started up some new blogs! So I spent quite a few hours looking over my options. I checked out Drupal, Joomla, and b2evolution platforms for possible choices… but Drupal was difficult to manage and had very limited choices. Joomla looked too complex, and b2evolution was too plain. So I reverted back to WordPress. When it comes to blogging, I really need a variety of nice themes. I’m willing to slog through technicalities and database manipulating, but when it comes to nice themes, I draw the line. By FAR, WordPress has the best themes around. And there are plenty of exceptional-quality themes, too. Here’s one: Template Lite WordPress Templates. (This is not a sponsored post!). I have used some of their themes, and I think they are beautiful. They are very artful, and free! I’m going to use one o their new ones, Sunset Farm, on my new blog very soon. I’ll be sure to let you know about the grand opening. Check out Template Lite for free WP themes. I’m very impressed with what’s there.
